FIRE CUPPING & GUA SHA

Fire Cupping & Gua Sha: Ancient Therapies for Modern Wellness

Fire Cupping and Gua Sha are time-honored healing therapies that support modern health challenges, from muscle tension to stress and overall wellness.

What is Fire Cupping?

Fire Cupping is a targeted, therapeutic treatment using specialized glass cups placed on acupuncture points along the back that correspond to organ systems. Cups may be gently moved along the meridians, promoting blood flow, stimulating circulation, and supporting the body’s natural detoxification process.

This treatment is deeply relaxing and soothing, often leaving temporary circular marks as the body brings toxins to the surface. Most marks fade within 3–4 days, though occasionally they may linger for up to a week or two.

Benefits of Fire Cupping

  • Loosens tight muscles and fascia, improving flexibility and range of motion
  • Promotes blood and interstitial fluid circulation, supporting tissue health
  • Assists the liver in detoxification
  • Ideal for seasonal transitions and maintaining overall wellness
  • Encourages stress relief and relaxation

Tip: If you’d like, we can take a photo of your back after treatment for reference.

Post-Treatment Care

  • Protect treated areas from wind, cold, and direct sun until marks fade
  • Rest and hydrate well, and eat moderately to support recovery

What is Gua Sha?

Gua Sha is an Eastern Medicine therapy used for centuries to relieve pain, stiffness, and improve circulation.

  • Gua means to rub or press-stroke
  • Sha describes the small red marks (petechiae) that appear on the skin during treatment and indicate blood congestion in surface tissue

Repeated, even strokes of Gua Sha shift pain and tension immediately. Sha typically fades in 2–3 days, while pain relief can last much longer. The color and fading rate of Sha can also provide insight into your body’s condition.

Benefits of Gua Sha

  • Resolves muscle spasms and pain
  • Promotes circulation to muscles, tissues, and organs
  • Improves mobility and reduces stiffness immediately
  • Supports immune function and reduces inflammation
  • Helps regulate body temperature and reduce tension
  • Can aid respiratory, digestive, and general pain conditions

Research shows Gua Sha can increase microcirculation, reduce inflammation, and stimulate healing pathways, making it valuable for both acute and chronic conditions.

Post-Treatment Care

  • Keep treated areas protected from wind, cold, and direct sun until Sha fades
  • Rest, hydrate, and maintain moderate nutrition to support healing
